Ninety-one percent of attorneys use a smartphone, according to the 2013 ABA Tech Survey. Fully 62% use iPhones, 22% are on Android phones, and 16% are still using BlackBerrys. Almost half (48%) use tablets as well, and again, Apple dominates: 91% who have a tablet use an iPad. There are a number of mobile apps for lawyers worth checking out as the use and popularity of smartphones and mobile devices continues to rise. (more…)

The introduction of iOS7 is a major change for Apple’s mobile products. The new interface not only looks different, but has been designed to feel different as well. iOS7 has incorporated animations and Ken Burns-style transitions, which have been described as modern and slightly disorienting. Apple has literally redesigned every inch of its iOS in this latest version. With the exception of the App Store and iTunes store, it feels like a completely different interface. Colors, icons, and fonts have changed, leaving Apple seeming newer and more hip than ever. (more…)

If approved by federal regulators, Google has just purchased Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion. Much has been written about the growth of Google's Android operating system in the smartphone market. Now, Google's purchase moves it into the smartphone manufacturing business. (more…)
