LinkedIn is updating and clarifying its User Agreement and Privacy Policy. There are a number of upcoming changes and we'll discuss a few of them here and we'll keep you posted as all the upcoming changes are put in place.
Social media is all about word of mouth marketing. Businesses taking advantage of social media will see growth through word of mouth marketing. LinkedIn lets you recommend products and services you use on a business' Company Page. One of the upcoming changes lets LinkedIn share your recommendations, the companies you follow and your other public actions in a commercial context such as an ad. You'll be able to opt-out of being mentioned in any of these ads and LinkedIn says they will not provide your name or image to any advertiser.
A couple weeks ago, LinkedIn launched updated versions of their professional plugins for publishers on the web. Now you can share articles and other information with your LinkedIn network directly from any site you are viewing. Starting in August you will have the ability to opt-out of any information that may be sent to LinkedIn when those pages load in your browser.
LinkedIn's updated policies will go live this week. Read them to better understand LinkedIn's privacy policy changes as well as how it treats your data. We'll also keep you up to date right here on The Fried Side, so stay tuned.
