The Fourth of July is tomorrow and people are looking for a fun way to celebrate as well as ways to share their plans with friends and family on the internet. Being that it is my first summer in Denver, I myself am looking for a fun way to spend the fourth, and what better way to do that then by searching social media. Social media has become the G0-To place for people gathering information about everything. So, I figure, why not the Fourth of July?
The Fourth of July Online
Sites like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest help people around the country celebrate our nation’s independence. Last year, Mashable.com shared 15 Patriotic Instagram Pics for Indepence Day by sharing fun photos of sparklers, fireworks, skewers on the bbq, the Statue of Liberty, and our nation’s flag. On Facebook you can coordinate BBQs, lookup when your city is having a fireworks show, and share fun photos with all your friends. On Pinterest, you can find Fourth of July recipes, outfit ideas, ways to do your hair, and fun decoration ideas! Another one of my favorite sites is FoodGawker, it’s very similar to Pinterest but its focus is food and drink recipes. They have dedicated an entire section to 4th of July food and recipes.
How are you all planning on spending the Fourth of July and how are you planning on sharing it with your friends and family who will not be with you? Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing how Chicago’s Fourth of July will turn out this year. Thankfully, even though I cannot be there in person, I can at least experience a little bit of it online. And of course, I plan to share all of my new traditions in Denver with my friends and family back home. Who knows what we will end up doing, but I do know that I can get a few great ideas on how to celebrate the Fourth from you and the Internet.
