Vine iPhone App Lets Anyone Shoot Short Videos

Vine_apps_logoLast October Twitter acquired Vine, the company that made a mobile app allowing people to film 6 second videos and post them on social sites like Facebook and Twitter. Before going any further I’ve got to ask why there isn’t an Android version yet. Vine was formed in June 2012. More than enough time has passed for an Android version to have been developed. Maybe it’s not in the plan. Regardless, I’m hearing more and more about this app so I thought I’d share some information here.

What’s All The Noise About?

Well, tech journalists are busy nowadays. With the launch of Vine a lot of buzz was generated in the market and people are going crazy over it. Everyone is busy creating videos and sharing them.
Vine is a simple application that lets people create short videos up to 6 seconds long. Vine can be used by iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad users to create short videos and post them on social networks like Twitter and Facebook. This app appears to have unleashed a new batch of creative people who are busy shooting videos and sharing them to gain recognition for their creativity.

What Makes Vine Unique?

The best thing about App Vine is its simplicity. You can start it with the press of a button and stop instantly by withdrawing your finger. You can also start right from where you stopped. All this makes recording videos a lot of fun and easy to use.

A unique feature of Vine is the six seconds of video need not be consecutive. You can have 2 three-second clips and string them together. You can even go for 3 two-second clips. If you are in the mood to annoy your friends take 6 one-second clips and see how they react. Vine videos are short but endless opportunities lie in those six seconds. They are longer than GIFs and can be extremely entertaining.

As a matter of fact, earlier this year there was a bit of Vine controversy created when users started uploading pornographic videos. Now, I haven’t seen one of these videos and really can’t imagine what could be shown in just six seconds. But in February, at Apple’s request, Twitter changed the age required to download the app from 12 to 17.

Marketers are seeing a lot of potential in this application. 6 seconds is enough to create an impression and marketing pros are starting to envision ways to use Vine to market all sorts of products and services.

The app developers are hard at work on new features and developments for the app. No word though about an Android version.
