The introduction of iOS7 is a major change for Apple’s mobile products. The new interface not only looks different, but has been designed to feel different as well. iOS7 has incorporated animations and Ken Burns-style transitions, which have been described as modern and slightly disorienting. Apple has literally redesigned every inch of its iOS in this latest version. With the exception of the App Store and iTunes store, it feels like a completely different interface. Colors, icons, and fonts have changed, leaving Apple seeming newer and more hip than ever. (more…)

The very creative people at Desk have put together a comprehensive Infographic detailing how one might run a business from a smartphone with thirteen different apps. We use several of the apps mentioned ourselves but have mixed feels about running one's entire business from a smartphone. Obviously, it can be done with the apps listed and probably a few more that some of you are currently using. Personally, I think the idea that this can really be done is pretty cool. (more…)

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently gave a “Two Thumbs Down” to mobile apps for children in terms of privacy, according to the release of their most recent report on the issue Mobile Apps for Kids: Disclosures Still Not Making the Grade. The report examines the privacy disclosures and practices of apps offered for children in the Google Play and Apple App stores and finds most mobile apps don’t even have privacy policies.

My experience has been that advances in technology have led to the accumulation of devices. It appears today's technology enables us to eliminate many of the devices we have been using and attempt to do more with less. What a novel thought! Everyone would agree paper calendars, business card holders, and the Rolodex have been digitized and replaced. There may be other things we can get rid of too. (more…)
