As someone who just recently started using Google+, I’ve had to toy around with it a little bit to realize what makes it so much bigger and better than the other social media sites out there. At first it seems much too close to Facebook, just as I’ve become more familiar with it I’ve grown to really enjoy using the site.
The world of social media marketing is all about getting a message out to the masses. We’ve learned to do this through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc. But to my surprise, and I’m sure yours, Google+ can push your brand or company higher in PageRank. The benefit of this site is the fact that it brings all of Google’s services together in one package. Using the incredible technology that Google has created, the site is able to personalize search results and advertisements for each individual user. The site is undoubtedly just as beneficial as other social media outlets and can even be used for SEO purposes.
Google+ has become very popular amongst certain businesses. A few larger businesses, some of which are listed below, are fantastic examples of the right way a company can use Google+ to improve their online presence.
Big Business Examples
H&M: H&M has 3.2 million Google+ followers who enjoy and celebrate inexpensive trendy clothing. They use the site for more than just posting pictures of their products by posting content such as street-style posts, trend updates, themed look books, and how to videos. H&M also engages their audience by asking them questions and sharing their followers posts.
Red Bull: Red Bull has completely shyed away from using their Google+ page to market their product. Instead, the company’s page has videos and pictures of athletes participating in extreme sports and other activities than involove adrenaline and strength. This action allows for Red Bull to successfully reach their target audience.
Mashable: With a steady 2.5 million followers, the technology company shares updates multiple times a day to keep their audience interested. They took the idea of engaging their audience to a whole new level by allowing their fans to help design their Google+ page. The company also uses hangouts to interact with their followers.

Brad,
Great article. Am still coming to terms with Google + myself. Great to see what the possibilities are.
Thanks.
Jim, I think a lot of people are in the same boat as you. Some even holding off to make sure G+ survives. For better or worse, Google seems to have put a lot of resources into making this platform succeed. We’ll see.
Thanks for your comment!

Hey Brad.
Great article. I must admit, I have mixed feelings on Google +. I’ve used Google Apps for years now and I’ve been very happy with the service. My one complaint is the way they push (more accurately force) services on you. Google + seems to be one of these services they are forcing on their users. But based on your recommendation, I’m happy to give it a second look. Thanks for the info.
Mike, frankly, I’m a recent convert. I think it’s a must!
