A couple weeks ago I wrote a post about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Today I read this post about 4 alternatives to WordPress and thought I'd share this information with you too. There's lots of possibilities out there. Find the one that fits you and your needs and go with it. The real message here is that you need to have a blog associated with your company, firm or business. GET TO IT!

Thinking about building your own blog? There are many different options out there and this post is going to focus on two of them: WordPress.com and WordPress.org. WordPress.com is hosted by Automattic, the team that developed WordPress. WordPress.org is the self-hosted version of WordPress and the version “The Fried Side uses.” Though similar, you should be aware of the differences before deciding which way to go. About ten days ago I wrote a post about corporate blogging. My premise was that the corporate blog was a bit of a different beast than the individual blog. The corporate blog requires some thought and planning. As a follow-up, I'd like to share this post with you. The premise of this post is that corporate blogging is on the decline. If that is so, it's too bad and likely the result of a lack of planning on the part of the corporations who have stopped blogging. I continue to maintain corporate bloging in important for corporations to connect with their customers.

I can't believe I'm writing this post. I really can't. Every day there is something to read about how the Internet is a wide open platform, open to everyone and anyone who wants to use this gigantic blank canvas to express themselves and exercise their free speech rights. So, it was with total shock and dismay that I learned this week a blog post I wrote last week was plagiarized. TWICE! Now I'm not talking about someone lifting my idea, a sentence, or even a paragraph from the post. My post was copied, word for word and pasted on a website where they took credit for the writing. In the other instance, large portions of the post were translated to Spanish and posted on a website. Why would someone do this instead of taking advantage of their unfettered ability to express themselves? (more…)
