Avoiding legal and ethical problems on social media should be high on your list of things to do in 2014. For many attorneys, social media is a dangerous mistress. Many in the legal profession and at professional responsibility seminars advocate against the use of social media because of the potential legal and ethical concerns it creates for attorneys. Duplicate Content? Many attorneys like to blog or even write their own website content. While this might seem a good way to avoid expense, it usually ends up harming a firm's search rankings more than it helps. Why? Because when attorneys write website content, they often create duplicate content. Usually this is done completely by mistake, but sometimes it is intentional.
