Jumpstart Your Organic Content With AI And A Human Touch

The Digital Slice Podcast is brought to you by The Friedman Group, LLC

Join Brad Friedman and Kate Bradley Chernis as they chat about being a female CEO in a male-dominated world. And how to transfer the skills you learned being a line cook and a DJ into running a company that developed a product that helps businesses pump a ton of content out on social media.

Kate Bradley Chernis is the Founder & CEO of Lately – A.I. that learns which words will get you the most engagement and re-purposes video, audio and text into dozens of social posts containing those words.

As a former rock ‘n' roll DJ, Kate served 20 million listeners as Music Director and on-air host at Sirius/XM. She’s also an award-winning radio producer, engineer and voice talent with 25 years of national broadcast communications, brand-building, sales and marketing expertise. What she learned in radio about the neuroscience of music helps fuel Lately's artificial intelligence.

Before founding Lately, Kate also owned a marketing agency that got Walmart a 130% ROI YoY for three years.

In addition, Kate's appeared as a guest speaker on hundreds of sales, marketing and entrepreneurial podcasts and has led presentations for Walmart, Ericsson, SAP, National Disability Institute, IRS, United Way Worldwide, SaaStr, SXSW, Content Marketing Institute, HubSpot, Hootsuite, Harvard University, Columbia University, NYU and others.

In this Episode:

  • Kate talks about turning listeners into fans and customers into evangelists.
  • Kate talks about her crazy ideas getting Walmart 130% ROI YoY for three years.
  • Kate talks about female founders of startups vs. male founders.
  • Kate talks about dressing up as someone else when she was going to pitches.
  • Kate also talks about how Lately uses artificial intelligence to learn your brand, or individual voice.

The Dynamic Duo: Inbound Marketing And SEO Copywriting

The Dynamic Duo: Inbound Marketing And SEO Copywriting

Inbound Marketing and SEO are a match made in web marketing heaven. They are symbiotic, meaning they help each other when used at the same time, and both are amazingly useful techniques for driving curious potential customers to your website. Both must be uniquely targeted for your ideal audience and both must anticipate what your customers will search for and want to read about. In essence, the same research that reveals which SEO keywords to focus on also provides you with topics on which to write your inbound marketing content. The content, in turn, should be SEO optimized to contain the targeted keywords, which it can do relevantly and interestingly because that's what you're writing about in the first place! Watch your readership and conversions grow when you employ these tactics. (more…)

What Kind of Copy Should You Write?

Copy, Writing, Copywriting, Social Media, Social Media Strategy, Facebook, TwitterEugene Schwartz was a copywriter that many in my field consider to be the greatest ever (and trust me, most of us think we’re the greatest ever!). Schwartz, who died in 1995, specialized in direct mail marketing and shared his insights in about 10 books, including a classic called Breakthrough Advertising. ShockMarter.com provides free downloads of it, which is in the public domain. At least, we hope so.

I like Schwartz because he didn’t overthink, which is a problem for many writers and students. Whenever I find I’m out of ideas, I use one of his very useful techniques to get my imaginative mojo back on track. The best one asks: what kind of copy should we write? (more…)
